Italy has announced the continuation of the suspension of the Schengen agreement with Spain due to migration security risks. This decision follows a significant influx of illegal migrants into the Spanish exclave of Ceuta. Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi stated that the suspension will not be reviewed before August 15, emphasizing the need to eliminate security risks. The situation has strained relations between Italy and Spain, with both countries imposing travel restrictions on each other. The majority of the migrants have returned to Morocco, but around 5,000 remain in Ceuta, complicating repatriation efforts.
