Italy is preparing a naval mission to protect its commercial vessels in the Red Sea, as announced by Defense Minister Guido Crosetto. The country aims to act independently, without waiting for EU mission decisions, to ensure safe passage through the Bab al-Mandeb Strait. Crosetto emphasized the urgency of the situation, citing delays affecting the economy. The Italian frigate Carlo Bergamini is already in the region, and options are being considered to temporarily place it under Italian command for escorting commercial ships.
