Italia eliberează zeci de mii de caracatițe în Marea Adriatică pentru a opri invazia crabului albastru: „Un prădător formidabil”
Italy is implementing an unusual solution to combat the invasive blue crab, which has severely impacted the fishing industry. Researchers in Bologna are releasing thousands of octopus hatchlings into the Adriatic Sea, hoping these predators will help control the crab population. The blue crab, originally from North America's Atlantic coast, has proliferated due to climate change, causing significant damage to local fisheries. The project, named 'Octo-Blu', aims to establish a community of octopuses to counteract the blue crab's spread. However, challenges remain, as octopuses may not thrive in the sandy, warm waters where blue crabs are most destructive.
