Isărescu: România nu îndeplinește în prezent niciun criteriu pentru trecerea la euro. BNR este pregătită să reia procesul

The National Bank of Romania is ready to resume preparations for adopting the euro, but currently does not meet the necessary criteria. Governor Mugur Isărescu emphasized the importance of fiscal consolidation and maintaining macroeconomic stability before entering the eurozone. He noted that Romania must demonstrate self-discipline in economic indicators and cannot rely solely on external pressures for compliance. The political agreement for euro adoption has been announced, but significant economic adjustments are still required, including reducing inflation and budget deficits. Romania's participation in the Exchange Rate Mechanism II is also essential before euro adoption can occur.
