Isărescu, la lansarea bancnotei de colecție de 100 de lei: „Imprimeria BNR este pregătită să tipărească euro, când va fi cazul”

The Governor of the National Bank of Romania, Mugur Isărescu, announced the readiness to print euro banknotes when conditions are met, during the launch of a commemorative 100 lei banknote. This new banknote features advanced security elements, including color-changing ink and a transparent window. It celebrates Eugeniu Carada, the founder of the National Bank, marking his 190th birthday. The banknote is printed on polymer and includes various security features and designs. A total of 16,000 commemorative banknotes and 1,000 special sheets will be issued, with sales starting on September 15, 2026, at specific BNR branches.
