This inquiry is the first under the Online Safety Code established in late 2024, which mandates stricter content controls for certain video-sharing platforms based in Ireland. Concerns have been raised about X's ineffective implementation of age verification and parental controls. If found in violation, X could face fines up to 10% of its annual revenue. Additionally, X is already under investigation for not allowing users to appeal moderation decisions under the European Digital Services Act.
