Iran, invitat în pactul de apărare de la Mecca
Iran has been invited to join the newly established Mecca Defense Pact by Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan. The invitation was reported by Al Mayadeen, citing an Iranian official, although it has not been officially confirmed. The pact, signed on August 7, emphasizes collective security and mutual defense, similar to NATO's Article 5. Turkey suggests that other countries, like Egypt, could also join the alliance. While Iran is cautiously favorable towards the agreement, it has expressed no immediate intention to join.
