Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaydi announced the end of the US-led international coalition mission in Iraq, marking a new phase for the country. He emphasized that this withdrawal does not signify the end of the fight against terrorism. The Pentagon confirmed the conclusion of Operation Inherent Resolve, which was established in 2014 to combat ISIS. Iraqi forces, supported by the coalition, successfully reclaimed territories from the group, leading to the declaration of ISIS's military defeat in 2017. The Iraqi Parliament had previously called for the withdrawal of foreign troops in 2020, and the Iraqi army stated it would not allow military operations against other states from its territory.
