Ionel Onofraș, fostul primar din Iași, adus în țară

Ionel Onofraș, former mayor of Iași, was extradited from Italy to Romania to serve a sentence of 19 years and 4 months for sexual assault. He was on the international wanted list and was apprehended through cooperation between Romanian and Italian authorities. Onofraș briefly served as mayor after the 1989 Revolution, holding office for about two months. His capture occurred on April 30, 2026, following a police operation in collaboration with Italian officials. After judicial procedures, he was handed over to Romanian authorities for imprisonment.
