Bucharest remains the main hub for foreign direct investments (FDI) in Romania, accounting for about 60% of the total FDI by the end of 2025. The National Bank of Romania's report indicates that FDI reached €134.823 billion, with a net inflow of €7.907 billion in 2025, marking a 41% increase from the previous year. The majority of investments were concentrated in industry, financial intermediation, and commerce, with the Bucharest-Ilfov region attracting 66.9% of total FDI. Germany and the Netherlands are the leading countries of origin for these investments, with Germany holding 13.9% of the FDI stock.
