Romania is set to establish the largest onshore renewable energy project in the EU with the Dama Solar photovoltaic park in Arad, boasting a capacity of 1.3 GW. The project, which will generate around 1,800 GWh of green energy annually, has secured financing of up to €561 million. This funding, supported by the European Investment Bank, involves a consortium of 14 creditors and is structured as a green loan. Dama Solar is expected to begin construction soon, with commercial operations anticipated by late 2028. The project will also include a nature reserve, contributing to biodiversity efforts in the region.
