OMV Petrom is investing €560 million in the Petrobrazi refinery to produce sustainable fuels from renewable sources, aiming for operational status by 2028. The new facility will have an annual capacity of 250,000 tons, producing Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO). The project is part of the refinery's adaptation to market demands and energy transition. The facility will utilize raw materials like used cooking oils and plant fats, significantly reducing CO₂ emissions. Additionally, OMV Petrom is developing green hydrogen production capabilities at Petrobrazi, with investments of around €190 million.
