Starting July 19, 2026, major textile companies in the EU must seek alternatives like resale or donations instead of destroying unsold items. The rules aim to reduce waste and environmental impact, with specific reporting requirements set to begin in February 2027. Exceptions for destruction are limited to safety concerns or product damage. The regulations will also extend to small and medium enterprises by July 2030, promoting better stock management and recycling practices. These measures could enhance competitive advantages for companies that adapt to sustainable practices.
