Euroleague Basketball has implemented an AI-based system for referee assignments in EuroLeague and EuroCup matches, including those of U-BT Cluj-Napoca. The system, already used in the 2026-2027 EuroLeague season, will analyze criteria set by the Referee Department to select appropriate officiating crews. It considers 14 rules across three categories, focusing on sports criteria, scheduling, and integrity. The technology processes large amounts of data to ensure consistent application of these criteria, enhancing the officiating process. U-BT Cluj-Napoca will utilize this system in their EuroCup matches, starting with their game against Maxima Roma on September 30.
