Institutul de Lingvistică al Academiei Române explică de ce „supat” este un cuvânt corect: „Nu se ascunde de gramatică”

This term was included in the 2005 edition of the Romanian Orthographic, Orthoepic, and Morphological Dictionary (DOOM2), not just in the 2021 edition. The institute emphasized that "supat" is a neuter noun and provided examples from the Romanian language dictionary to support its usage. They explained that the word derives from the phrase "sub pat" but serves a different grammatical function. The term has historical documentation in various literary works and is recognized in popular language. The institute also noted that the inclusion of a word in a dictionary requires evidence of its use, not just internet humor.
