Between June and September, Romania reported 58 cases of West Nile virus, including 47 confirmed and 11 probable cases, according to INSP. Three deaths occurred among elderly patients with comorbidities. The cases were distributed across various counties, with Bucharest having the highest number at 25. Health experts recommend measures to avoid mosquito exposure, such as wearing long sleeves, using repellents, and eliminating standing water. The ECDC notes that the spread of West Nile virus coincides with the expansion of invasive mosquito species in Europe.
