Romania's unemployment rate was 6.3% in June 2026, with youth unemployment remaining high at 28.8%. The number of unemployed aged 15 to 74 decreased to 511,600 compared to May. However, this figure is slightly higher than in June 2025. The unemployment rate for both men and women was the same at 6.3%. The National Institute of Statistics highlighted the persistent high youth unemployment, which increased from 28.2% in the previous month. Compared to last year, youth unemployment has risen significantly, with a notable increase in the latter half of the previous year. In May, Romania's unemployment rate rose to 6.4%, above the EU average of 5.9%.
