INS: Comerțul cu autovehicule a crescut cu 1,9%
In the first five months of 2026, the turnover in the automotive and motorcycle trade increased compared to the same period last year, driven mainly by vehicle and auto parts sales. The National Institute of Statistics reported a 0.8% rise in gross turnover and a 1.9% increase when adjusted for working days and seasonality. Vehicle sales grew by 1.4%, while auto parts sales rose by 1.2%. However, motorcycle trade and repairs saw significant declines of 17.4% and 1.3%, respectively. In May alone, turnover increased by 4.5% from April, with motorcycle trade experiencing the highest growth at 20.7%. Year-on-year, turnover rose by 1.5% in May compared to May 2025, supported by vehicle sales growth of 3.9%.
