Ingineria spectaculoasă ascunsă pe Transfăgărășan: 627 de metri de copertine construite sub amenințarea avalanșelor

The construction of the Transfăgărășan road involved significant challenges, including extreme weather and avalanches. The project included the Bâlea–Capra Tunnel and protective concrete canopies to safeguard the road from natural hazards. Built between 1970 and 1974, the road spans over 150 kilometers and features a difficult 90-kilometer section. The tunnel, completed in 1974, was notable for its unique construction conditions, requiring alpine skills for measurements. Over 600 meters of protective canopies were added to shield the road from avalanches and falling rocks. Despite the initial construction, risks remain, prompting plans for additional protective measures to enhance road safety.
