Inflația din zona euro sare la 3,3%! Energia și războiul cu Iranul pun BCE în fața unei decizii cruciale • Newsweek România
Inflation in the Eurozone rose to 3.3% in August, driven by energy price increases due to the Iran conflict and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. This marks the highest rate since September 2024, up from 2.9% in July. Energy inflation surged from 10.3% to 14.3%, while core inflation slightly decreased from 2.5% to 2.4%. Market expectations indicate a high probability of a 0.25 percentage point interest rate hike by the ECB in September, raising the key rate to 2.5%. This decision comes amid concerns that the current inflation shock may become structural, impacting wages and service prices. Higher borrowing costs could further strain indebted households and small businesses, potentially delaying or abandoning investment projects.
