The annual inflation rate in Romania decreased to 6.17% in August from 8.16% in July, with services rising by 11.28% and non-food goods by 6.36%. The consumer price index for August 2026 compared to July 2026 was 100.22%, and the inflation rate since the beginning of the year was 4.6%. The harmonized consumer price index showed a 6.3% annual inflation rate compared to August 2025. The National Bank of Romania revised its inflation forecast for the end of 2026 to 6.1%, expecting it to drop to 3.4% by the end of 2027.
