Infecția cu HPV poate evolua mulți ani fără simptome. Ginecolog: „Genotiparea HPV este principala metodă de identificare a tulpinilor cu risc oncogen”

In Romania, cervical cancer remains a significant health challenge, with high incidence and mortality rates. HPV infections can persist asymptomatically for years, making regular screening essential. Dr. Ofelia Neagu emphasizes the importance of both HPV genotyping and the Pap test for early detection. Persistent HPV infections, particularly types 16 and 18, can lead to cervical cancer over time. Women are encouraged to participate in national screening programs starting at age 30, regardless of vaccination status. Late-stage diagnoses are still common, especially in women over 55, highlighting the need for consistent gynecological check-ups.
