Industria auto din România, în declin: peste 30.000 de locuri de muncă au dispărut, iar producția scade deşi în Europa crește

The Romanian automotive industry is facing significant challenges, with over 30,000 jobs lost and a 12.7% drop in vehicle production in the first half of 2026, despite a 5.7% increase in the EU market. The analysis of 2,325 companies reveals a nominal revenue growth of 35.1% from 2021 to 2025, yet employment decreased by 13.7%. The decline is particularly evident among first-tier suppliers, with net margins shrinking. Rising labor costs and energy prices further strain the sector. Projections indicate potential job losses of 12,000-18,000 by 2028, and a significant impact on budget revenues and exports if major production models are lost. The report highlights a shift towards battery and software technologies, with Romania lacking large-scale battery production projects.
