Indicele global al sărăciei (PNUD) a crescut pentru prima dată de la crearea sa în 2010 - Economica.net
The global multidimensional poverty index has risen for the first time since its inception in 2010, affecting 1.2 billion people, according to UNDP. The 2026 report reveals an increase of 51.5 million people living in acute poverty compared to the previous year. This marks the first rise in sixteen years, prompting concerns from UNDP administrator Alexander De Croo. He highlighted the interconnected challenges of hunger, lack of education, and inadequate access to clean water and electricity. Over half of those affected are children, and while the overall number has increased, 33 countries have halved their poverty rates in the last fifteen years, with significant progress noted in Asia. Extreme poverty remains concentrated in rural areas, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.
