The Romanian Ministry of Economy has increased the monthly allowances for the board members of IAR Brașov from 4,720 to 20,400 lei. This decision has raised questions about the qualifications of the new board members, two of whom were previously dismissed from Tarom and another from a munitions factory. Minister Irineu Darău emphasized the need for competent administrators and performance-based remuneration. He stated that the increase is based on a formula considering the company's size, profitability, and responsibilities. The move aims to enhance accountability and performance in state-owned enterprises, particularly in the defense sector, where IAR Brașov plays a significant role. The minister also highlighted the importance of transforming defense investments into local production and job creation.
