A Bulgarian citizen, Daniel Mihaylov Rusanov, is under investigation for bribery related to the National Office for Gambling. He has signed a plea agreement acknowledging his guilt and proposed a suspended sentence of 2 years and 4 months. Rusanov allegedly offered €100,000 to influence an investigation favorably for a gambling operator, facilitated by former ONJN president Odeta Nestor. The case against him is separate from that of Ciprian Ciucu, the mayor of Bucharest, who is also under investigation for corruption. Rusanov's agreement has been submitted to the Bucharest Tribunal, with the first hearing scheduled for October 21, 2026.
