Închirierea unui petrolier din SUA spre China depășește costul lansării unei rachete în spațiu

The cost of chartering a tanker from the US to China has surged, exceeding the price of launching a SpaceX rocket. This increase is driven by a global capacity shortage and heightened risks in the Strait of Hormuz, where tanker crews face significant dangers. As a result, shipping rates have reached levels not seen since the 1960s, impacting oil prices and refining margins. The ongoing geopolitical tensions and reduced Iranian oil exports further complicate the situation, forcing China to seek alternative oil sources. Recently, charter costs have skyrocketed to $41 per barrel, compared to just $4.50 last year, significantly affecting the oil supply chain.
