The underground fire in Lunca Mureșului Natural Park remains active despite recent rainfall, affecting around 30 hectares of forest. Authorities are considering directing treated water from the Arad Wastewater Treatment Plant to combat the underground burning. A working group, including various institutions, is managing the situation, while ISU Arad is investigating the fire's source. The issue dates back to 2025, with the situation worsening since June 2026 due to prolonged drought and wind.
