Incendiul de la Rusciori, stins după 90 de ore: un acumulator ar fi declanșat dezastrul în care au ars mii de tone de deșeuri

After nearly 90 hours of battling flames, firefighters in Sibiu extinguished a massive fire at a waste sorting station in Rusciori. The incident resulted in the complete destruction of two metal halls covering 6,000 square meters and 4,500 tons of waste, triggered by a chemical reaction from a damaged battery. The fire broke out on Thursday evening and required a significant mobilization of resources, with continuous operations lasting almost four days. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported. The toxic smoke released posed a major risk to nearby residents, prompting authorities to issue a warning. Firefighters from four counties were involved in the response, successfully preventing the fire from spreading to nearby structures, including a diesel tank.
