În ce oraș s-a înființat primul muzeu din România? A fost victima celui mai mare jaf de artă din istoria țării • Newsweek România
The first museum in Romania, the Brukenthal National Museum, was established in Sibiu 209 years ago. Founded by Samuel von Brukenthal, it became a public institution in 1817. In 1968, it suffered the largest art heist in Romanian history, with four of the eight stolen paintings still missing. The museum houses diverse collections, including European and Romanian art, archaeology, and more, across nine historical buildings. Despite the theft, the museum remains a significant cultural landmark in Romania.
