Standing at 6.5 meters tall, it is the largest onion monument in the world. The monument symbolizes the importance of onions to the local community, which has a population of under 3,500. The onion from Pericei is well-known and has historical significance, having been valued at royal tables in Vienna. The monument, made of stone, metal, and resin, cost 20,000 lei and features a 4.5-meter high onion bulb made of fiberglass and copper. In 2007, local farmers also created a record-breaking onion wreath measuring over 4,500 meters.
