Romania will not implement property taxation based on market value starting January 1, 2027, as announced by Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare. The decision follows discussions with the European Commission, leading to modifications in the reform timeline. Nazare emphasized that many technical aspects of the new taxation system still need clarification. Originally, the transition to market value taxation was set for 2027 alongside the e-Proprietatea system, part of Romania's National Recovery and Resilience Plan. Challenges remain in accurately determining property values, especially in areas with few real estate transactions.
