The European Union plans to limit hybrid vehicle imports from China to 350,000 units annually, starting December 1, following agreements made during a recent visit to Beijing by EU trade commissioner Maros Sefcovic. This safeguard measure will increase by 6% each subsequent year for four years, applying to all hybrid vehicle imports to comply with WTO rules. In return, China will reduce tariffs on certain auto parts and halve tariffs on footwear, ice cream, and olive oil, benefiting European exports worth around 4 billion euros. The agreement aims to address the EU's significant trade deficit with China, which has reached about one billion euros daily, impacting European industry and employment.
