Romania's energy system is functioning normally after the shutdown of the second reactor at Cernavoda, according to interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. The energy deficit will be compensated by solar and wind sources, imports, and hydroelectric plants. The nuclear energy production reached zero for the first time in 23 years due to low Danube water levels. Despite the shutdown, the expected peak consumption was not reached, with actual consumption lower than forecasts. Storage facilities played a significant role in stabilizing the system, with a current installed capacity of 989 MW.
