Ilie Bolojan avertizează că statul va primi penalități dacă nu va închide la timp centralele pe cărbune

During a Senate debate on Decarbonization, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan warned that failing to close coal plants could lead to penalties. He emphasized that the state lacks alternatives to replace these plants, citing the situation in Craiova. Bolojan criticized an amendment that would prevent the closure of coal plants until new capacities are operational, arguing it undermines previous commitments made to the European Commission. He stated that if coal capacities are not closed this fall, Romania will face penalties, and the proposed amendment could lead to additional issues with the EU. Meanwhile, some PSD members argue that the amendment is necessary due to the challenges posed by the PNRR. The amendment was adopted with 73 votes in favor, 42 abstentions, and no votes against.
