Iarnă cum nu a mai fost în Europa. Facturile la energie ar putea exploda
Europe faces a potential gas shortage this winter, with storage levels at 63%, significantly below the five-year average. The decline in liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies from the Middle East, exacerbated by issues in the Strait of Hormuz, has contributed to this imbalance. High summer energy demand and lower nuclear and wind power generation have further strained the market. Gas prices have surged, reaching over 68 euros/MWh, the highest since early 2023. Predictions suggest that a cold winter could push prices to 90-120 euros/MWh, with a need for over 100 euros/MWh to attract sufficient US LNG. Europe's dependency on US LNG will increase as it aims to reduce reliance on Russian gas, especially with an import ban set for 2027. The ability to secure LNG supplies will be crucial for the continent's energy stability this winter.
