Hubert Thuma, the leader of Ilfov County Council, responded to European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) raids related to a fraud investigation involving EU funds. He clarified that the allegations do not concern the council itself. The investigation focuses on a project aimed at reducing hospital infections, funded by 4 million euros through the EU's Recovery and Resilience Facility. Prosecutors suspect that the project's budget was inflated and that many price offers used for budgeting were not genuine. The case originated from Romania's National Anti-Corruption Directorate (DNA) and was supported by OLAF's report.
