Hidroelectrica is increasing electricity prices by 13% due to drought and rising market costs, affecting new customers and contract renewals. The new rate will be 0.515 lei per kWh, up from 0.45 lei. Analysts predict other suppliers will follow suit, leading to potential increases in consumer bills by up to 7%. The drought has significantly impacted hydroelectric production, particularly at Porțile de Fier, while reduced photovoltaic output limits access to cheaper energy. With 1.2 million customers, Hidroelectrica manages 188 hydro plants and the Crucea Nord wind farm.
