Hidroelectrica has awarded a contract worth 296.8 million lei for a battery storage system at the Porțile de Fier II hydropower plant. This project will be the largest battery storage capacity in the company's portfolio, with an installed power of 64 MW and a storage capacity of 434.76 MWh. The contract was awarded to Synergy Construct, which will collaborate with several subcontractors. The storage system aims to optimize energy production and allow for energy delivery during peak demand periods. This investment is part of a broader strategy to enhance renewable energy management and includes public funding from the Modernization Fund. CEO Iulius-Dan Plaveti emphasized the importance of energy storage in the company's future plans, with a budget of over 500 million euros allocated for integrated projects.
