Hidroelectrica has signed a contract worth 296.8 million lei for the installation of a large battery storage system at the Porțile de Fier II hydropower plant. This project will feature a power capacity of 64 MW and a storage capacity of 434.76 MWh, making it the largest battery storage capacity in the company's portfolio. Part of the funding, amounting to 43.4 million lei, comes from the Modernization Fund. The investment aims to enhance energy efficiency and flexibility in the energy system, allowing for better management of renewable energy production. The project aligns with Hidroelectrica's strategy to modernize and diversify its energy infrastructure.
