Hidroelectrica has awarded a contract for a battery storage installation at the Porțile de Fier II hydropower plant, set to be completed by the end of next year. The facility will have an installed capacity of 64 MW and a storage capacity of 434.76 MWh, with a total investment of 296.8 million lei. This project aims to enhance energy management and flexibility, allowing for better utilization of renewable energy. The investment is supported by a 10 million euro grant from the Ministry of Energy and marks a significant step towards modernizing Romania's energy infrastructure. The project is expected to optimize energy production and reduce wear on hydro equipment.
