Romania is developing extensive tunnels on its highways, with over 26 kilometers planned or under construction. The most significant project is on the Transylvania Highway, featuring tunnels nearly three kilometers long. The Momaia tunnel on A1 is expected to open in 2026, while other major tunnels are in various stages of construction. The A8 highway will also see numerous tunnels, totaling over 10 kilometers. The Momaia tunnel is nearly complete, pending safety tests before its opening, which will enhance connectivity across the region.
