The strategic project for the Bucharest Railway Complex has been approved, aiming to enhance the railway infrastructure in the metropolitan area. The project, announced by Secretary of State Horațiu Cosma, is estimated to cost 17.9 billion lei, funded through non-reimbursable external funds and the state budget. It includes the construction of a modern, electrified, and digitalized railway network over 398 km, expected to take 60 months. Key improvements involve doubling and electrifying the railway ring around Bucharest, modernizing existing lines, and enhancing connectivity with other transport modes. This investment aims to improve connections between the capital and surrounding areas, promote efficient and eco-friendly transport, and facilitate freight movement across the country.
