The National Company for Road Investments (CNIR) has identified seven route options for the Bucharest-Giurgiu expressway project, which is the first high-speed road planned at Romania's border with Bulgaria. The project aims to ensure modern connections with existing highways and improve transport standards between Bucharest and Giurgiu. Following a multi-criteria analysis, CNIR will select the top two routes for further evaluation. The feasibility study contract was signed with a Romanian-Turkish engineering consortium, with a total duration of 18 months, funded through the Transport Program and state budget.
