A technical issue has caused significant disruptions to flight departures in the UK, affecting tens of thousands of passengers. National Air Traffic Services confirmed the problem and is working on restoring normal operations. Ryanair reported that over 65,000 passengers are impacted, with more than 50 flights canceled. Other airlines, including easyJet and British Airways, have also canceled numerous flights. The issue is linked to equipment failures at Swanwick, leading to reduced airspace capacity. Eurocontrol anticipates a return to normal traffic by 11 PM Romanian time.
