Hadja Lahbib, the European Commissioner for Equality, praised Romania's significant contributions to the EU's civil protection framework, noting its proactive assistance in crisis situations. Over the past decade, Romania has requested help through the Civil Protection Mechanism ten times and has responded to other countries' calls for aid 49 times. Lahbib highlighted Romania's robust emergency response system and its role in evacuating patients from conflict zones, including nearly 60 children from Gaza. Additionally, she mentioned that Romania provided a substantial number of firefighters for wildfire response across Europe, with 200 out of 800 prepositioned firefighters coming from Romania.
