A group of hackers has stolen data from hundreds of European Revolut customers, demanding a $3 million ransom. The attack was executed through a compromised institutional email account from an Italian prefecture. Italian prosecutors have launched an investigation into the incident, which has affected around 680 customers, although their funds remain secure. The hackers, identifying themselves as "iamnotavillain," threatened to sell the sensitive data to other criminal networks if the ransom is not paid within 24 hours. The operation is considered highly sophisticated, and authorities are examining potential breaches in public institutions. The Italian data protection authority is also involved, coordinating with its Lithuanian counterpart to address the security threat.
