The Hungarian government is accelerating the sinking of two barges on the Danube near the Paks nuclear power plant to raise water levels for cooling. The operation is set for Saturday, with Prime Minister Peter Magyar overseeing the process. Currently, the plant operates at 25% capacity due to a historic drought. Authorities plan to build an artificial dam in the riverbed to manage water flow, a project expected to take weeks. The barges will temporarily raise water levels by 20 centimeters, while the dam could increase it by up to 1 meter.
