The Spanish government declassified intelligence reports regarding the massive illegal entry of migrants from Morocco into Ceuta in late July, aiming to clarify its prior knowledge and Morocco's role. Government spokesperson Elma Saiz emphasized transparency and citizens' right to information after the cabinet approved the release of around forty documents. Over 70,000 migrants entered Ceuta on July 30 and 31, raising questions about whether the government was warned in advance. Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez stated that no reports indicated the scale of the crisis, nor did any agency provide evidence of Morocco orchestrating the influx. An investigation has been launched into the crisis, revealing mismanagement that facilitated migrant entry. Currently, around 3,400 places have been prepared in Ceuta for migrants, with efforts to increase this to 6,000 soon, while the government works on identifying individuals for asylum or return.
