The Interministerial Committee Bala 2 convened to address the low water levels of the Danube and ensure adequate cooling water for the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant. Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan signed the committee's establishment, which aims to expedite solutions for water supply. The committee will review the feasibility study for the Bala 2 project, which seeks to improve navigable waterways on the Danube. Experts will assess the project's data and its correlation with other investments. Immediate dredging works on the Danube are deemed necessary, and institutions are tasked with inventorying dredging equipment. The next meeting is scheduled for August 19, 2024, to gather updated hydrological data.
